With the LH500 you can run two 8 ohm cabs off it. The Hartke cabs Vic uses are 8 ohm cabs too. I own the 410 he has. I dont have anything posted with the amp, but i will double check.

That is really great, he gets some good tones out of it that is for sure. Do you use any effects with yours?
I use a Boss OC-2 octave, PH-2 Phaser, Digitech Hardwire Distortion and i will be getting the MXR M82 Filter next. I mostly use the fx for fun stuff. For example, i use the octave during the intro to Stevie Wonder's I Wish, i use distortion(mild),octave and phaser on Sly and the Family Stone's Take You Higher, that just sounds INSANE!!! We just started doing a song by the constellations, Felicia, and i jack up the drive a little and use the octave and it nails the bass tone on the song.The amp and cab reproduce and handle the effects fine.
That is really good to know. You have a pretty well rounded set of effects so I am glad to hear the amp can handle it. Have you ever had any issues with the LH500 at all?
I can honestly say i have never had any issues with the head.That's was a big plus for me when i upgraded this year to the 1000. I am not a touring musician, but i do work almost every weekend in small and big clubs so i need to know my stuff will produce. I can't afford to have my head in the shop and cancel gigs. No extra cash for a backup. I did have problems with the Hydrive combo and talked directly to Larry on it. Went back to my dealer and and they had a new one waiting for me. Larry Hartke is a guy who really goes out of his way to answer any questions you may have or to to fix a problem you may run into. Great customer service and thats hard to get these days. I have used Ampeg,GK,Peavey and SWR. They are all great amps with many added controls and eq, but i get the same end result now with bass, mid, and treble.
That is really fantastic. That customer service is amazing and almost unheard of these days. Is that photo of your rig? The head seems to match everything I am looking for, good tone, power, dependability, price range. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to afford the hydrive cab. Do you think the head would still be just as solid a performer on another cab?

Yes, this is my new setup.That is a washable fan filter. As for other cabs, i ran my 500 on an Ampeg single 15 cab and i also plugged it into that new Fender 410 cab and it sounded great. I was using my head to compare the Fender head and i liked mine better than the fender head on the fender 410. The only reason i didn't get that cab was due to the weight, the Hartke cab is much lighter. I also had an Avatar B210 neo cab that i used for really small gigs and that sounded nice too, just couldn't pump as much into it like the 15.
I definitely understand. At first I thought I would be alright with a 2x10 cab but others on here convinced me otherwise. I would rather be over powered than under powered that's for sure. I will probably have to find a cab on craigslist once I get a head but that would probably be the best option anyway. Is there anything I should look for when buying a used cab and how does compatibility work between head and cab?
I think cabs would be a personal taste. Ported cabs throw around some nice low end and if its rear ported, your drummer will love you because some of that will reflect back to him. The Hartkes are seal cabs(no ports) so the sound seems a little more focused and out front. I am sure someone here can answer that a little better than me, JimmyM where are you???.
Here's a pic of my friends LH500 with (2) XL series cabs and his Ibanez Bass. Looks like the bass is a SR series.
Wow, that is a really nice rig! I believe that is a soundgear bass, looks like a pretty good one too. Do you happen to have any audio/video of him playing with this rig?

He just put this together over the last few months and just started a band. They should be out playing soon. Those cabs were cheap too, I found the top one at a yard sale for 50 bucks! He got the bottom one at Daddys Junky music for 125.00. That full stack cost him a total of 525.00. That's a STEAL! There is a used one on their website right now Daddys.com - Over 14,000 Used Instruments Online Daily. I think it my be my old LH500!

I will have to check out the classifieds here too. I usually feel a bit more comfortable ordering from a company that has some sort of guarantee or used gear warranty but it depends on the price and item.
daddy's junky music has been in business for decades. i went to one of their stores recently (forget where) and wasn't especially impressed with the selection, but it is a legit store.

That's the one thing about Daddys is you never know what might come in. Since the store near my house is managed by a bassist, there is always a good assortment of bass goodies there. They also recently picked up the genz Benz line. I have a gc down the road too and their inventory never changes. Always the same brands.

you can always buy an EQ later down the line. They sell them in rack or stompbox formats. I almost bought the Hartke but went with a Pre/Power setup. For $360 You couldn't ask for more power or options. (Peavey AlphaTube Pre and Crown XLS Drivecore 1000)
