Headless Club???

Following on from my other post, here's my recently completed Thunderhead bass again.

This bass started life as a 34" Wishbass that had it's headstock snapped off as well as losing 2" of the neck in a previous before it found it's way to me. After a fair bit of cutting and routing it has ended up a 33" scale headless. With an end-piece by David King of King Bass, individual ABM tuner/bridges and a Delano Quad-Coil in place of the EMG Select J and what you have is one of my more extravagant refinishes.

Next step will be to add some LEDs.

my first bass (cort canoe paddle xtreme)

I was just given a bass that appears to be the same model with a refinish like yours. It's been de-fretted.

The center section isn't as dark in person as it appears in the picture.

I've only had it two days and haven't decided what to think of it yet.

Anyways, I guess I'm in the headless club. I'll gig it next weekend.

The Cort is the first electric bass I've owned. When I bought it for $50 it had a coat of black spraypaint that was applied less than professionally. I took the paint and the frets off, did some wood burning, and had the EMG active pups installed.

I bought the Fleishman for $150 only knowing that I liked the way it played, sounded, and looked. A fellow TBer helped ID it. I've emailed back and forth with Harry Fleishman a few times over what turns out to be a non issue with the truss rods. He was very helpful. He is sending me a replacement logo decal, which goes between the pup and bridge.

I beleive that there were only 250 originals made before Hondo bought the design. I'm not sure how many Hondos were made.

Nice scroll work on that Cort! Looks great! Did you wood-burn the edges as well? Would love to see more pics.

Not eligible for a number since I sold this one 13 years ago, but here I am with the Steinberger XP-2 I bought brand new in 1988. ’Bergers were in high demand back then; the dealer wouldn’t back off a dime from the $1200 list price or even throw in a new set of strings! It was in near-mint condition when I sold it in 1997. If I recall, I’d had it only a month or so when this pic was taken.

That's a very attractive bass with simple clean lines. I especially like that it's made of wood with nice figuring but isn't so over the top with spalted this and that and 8 different species of contrasting wood laminates in the neck and body.

That's a very attractive bass with simple clean lines. I especially like that it's made of wood with nice figuring but isn't so over the top with spalted this and that and 8 different species of contrasting wood laminates in the neck and body.

That's my way of thinking too. Electronics are simple passive VBT, and it sounds great.

The instrument is for travelling, so shouldn't be too luxurious. But then Wilser had to go ahead and spoil me.

Thanks they are getting harder and harder to come by
and most people like myself are holding on to them
This was back in the 80s when Washburns were actually really good basses
Made in the USA and then in Japan (like thats a bad thing)
Has electronics, Bridge system and pickups from the Status company in the UK and assembled in the US
thru neck construction with maple neck and I believe walnut wings
