Headphone repair

Does anybody know of any service shop that will repair headphone cords?

I've got two pairs of decent headphones that I can't use anymore because the jack doesn't work right (or is torn right off).

You could try your local music store. Might even try a local guitar setup/repar dude (not a store) - I'm sure they'd know how and are equipped for it but you'd have to ask if they would. Try Google-ing 'guitar setup [your City, St.]'

Depending on how thin the wires are, you may be able to do it yourself. Inside are probably three wires. You have to strip them and then solder to a new jack.

If the wires are molded in to the cable, it might be hard to extract them or strip them down.

Thanks. I found a couple of services through google.

looks like it's about 35$ flat fee to have the cord repaired, plus the cost of shipping the headphones.

One pair is worth it, the other not so much. I think I'll buy a pair that has the replaceable cord.

I rewired an older pair of ATMH50s with a new jack. Got some new plugs off Amazon, took about ten minutes to actually strip and solder the new plug on. Theyre my "desk" phones, so I use them a decent amount, and no issues. plugs were like $7, but if you dont solder, you may not have the gear and space to do it.
