Headphone suggestions

Been using the trusty Sony MDR-7506 forever in my home studio and they work fine for me for tracking, etc. However I've been doing podcast mixing and post stuff lately, wearing headphones for long hours for the last few months (I prefer to work on my studio monitors but logistics have made this work a headphone gig). I'm looking for some decent affordable headphones that have ear cups that sit on top of my ears as opposed to totally over/around the ear - smaller than the 7506's but still covering the ear enough. This is not incredibly demanding work sonically, FYI, it's really just sort of assembly. I'll spend up to I dunno, $200? Closed back or open back is fine, either way(but I'd lean towards closed). Looking at the Audio Technica ATH-M60X On-Ears currently. Any other suggestions?

I can’t say enough about K240. No, they are not audiophile grade. But they are good enough. And they have a robust bass response even to play through. Very comfortable for long sessions and the replaceable cable is a nice feature for oafs like me who always roll over cables. And the open back keeps sexy prowlers from sneaking up on you.
And the cost is low enough you don’t cry. That’s my sweet spot.

Yeah that price is great. I know of these. Do they fit "on ear" as opposed to "over ear"?
Another one I'm looking at is the HD 25, around $150, but I wouldn't mind spending less. Definitely want "on ear".

Yes, they’re not closed, it’s not insulating you from background.
Cool. What I'm tired of with the 7506s for this work is they fully cover the ear, your ear is inside the cup with the large pads on your head surrounding your ear. It gets uncomfortable after hours on end. Looking for "on ear" where they sit on top of your ears. Looking at reviews people seem to love them--I know I've used them in the past somewhere!

my wife hates around-the-ear and has a Yamaha RH-5MA. price isn't high, considering, they're made in Japan.

I have an AKG K-92 and they're around-the-ear for me (which I prefer). I guess, it depends on your ears as well.

On the ear headphones are uncomfortable for me. Over the ear models can be "8 hours a day" comfortable if they are designed correctly. I stopped looking at headphones after I tried Beyerdynamic DT-770s, which not only sound great, but are supremely comfortable.
My advice is to try anything before purchasing. YMMV for any headphone style.
