Headphones for practise?

Hey!

Ive been looking around and watched some reviews but cant decide wich headphones I want to buy. I was thinking about something in the price range of 100$ wich led me to two pairs, Sony MDR-7506 and Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. So I want to ask bassplayers direct, about your opinions! Both equally good?

As said, I would like to use them for practise. I play along with tracks alot so I would like something that could handle the music and my bass together, without losing the "sound". If you do have any other suggestions, brands and headphones etc please fill me in!

Thanks :bassist:

Ideally you want to try out whatever set you choose before purchase. Make sure to give 'em he'll and throughly test before finalising your selection.
That said you could try: Bose AE2 good articulation sharp representation sonically. Bit of a small 'sound stage' or the Denon AHD1100 sonically every bit as good but provides a much larger sound stage and allows you to isolate certain passages easier. I started with the ae2 but moved to the Denon. I found that for practise it was superior. Now for recording/playback/mixing I stick with the Bose.
Hope that helps..........

We have many sets of each of these in our studio and they work great! Haven't had any complaints from anyone. The main difference is the Sennheiser ear cup completely surrounds your ear, where the Sony is smaller. Both of them are a closed back design.

I was looking for a set a couple months a go because my old ones broke. The guy at my local L and M told me to look at gamer headphones because they are designed for bass. So I found a pair of Panasonic RP-DJS400 for about $40 and could not be happier. My only complaints are that the cable is short and it occasionally farts if you are playing an active 5 string too loud
