Headroom Question???

I always hear people talking about needing a lot of power to accurately reproduce bass. Why is the Ampeg B-50R so loud and so sweet sounding when it's only a 50 watt combo?

Just curious........I'm going to buy a small combo soon for use as a monitor and I have it in my head that these 50-60 watt combos aren't going to be loud enough. However, I once owned a B50R and I know that thing was very loud.

Dude, it depends on where you are playing and how loud & low you want/need to get.

Perhaps Ampeg got really lucky with pairing the amp and the 12 in. speaker and the cabinet.

I have a small 1x12 cabinet (EV TL806) that was designed for an EVM 12L guitar speaker... it doesn't go that low, but the low mids are so yummy that I really don't care.
