Travis Bean - Google Search

Travis Bean made some with aluminum necks. Sold mine as tuning was an issue. Aluminum and heat meant tuning changes seemed to change with temp and I had the Ebonal pieces on the back.

Loved the neck feel, tried alternate tuners, sold it to a collector.

On the size of the machines @dedpool1052, that's a good point.

I think my first P-Style builds looked great with the bottle opener.

When I tried the 32" scale version, it just looked a bit "off".

I wonder now if it was the machines?

It could also be that the CNC version is slightly slimmer than the modded Allparts prototypes, or that the black headstock face is "slimming":

To me, it's a combination of things that contribute to an instrument's appearance having a good "flow". It also has to do with what you're used to seeing and developing a personal bias with what you're familiar with. That NR bird does look good with your headstock, but being a fan of the original '60s Birds when they used those huge kluson tuners, using the smaller posts throws off the aesthetics for me. I suppose if the originals had small posts and they did re-issues with large post, my bias might be towards small posts.

I like this headstock style:

To me, it's not trying to be a "Fender style", but rather something all its own. It's distinctive.

Have to ask, any tuning issues, and of course how do they play.

The bass is fine but the guitar example has the strings breaking across the nut in an upward angle for some reason, that is to be avoided.

The origin of that drawing is the Trademark application for my "bottle opener" guitar headstock shape, which was drawn from a photograph.

Now that I think of it, it is also the source for the CAD/CNC work that resulted in the current shapes.

It explains perfectly why the strings are a bit "off", because the photo wasn't taken straight on.
