I'm posting this so in case any of you run into this same problem, you'll know it's not very serious and has a quick fix:
I recently purchased and received a Headway EDB-1 preamp to use with my upright guitarrón but almost immediately ran into a serious problem: When I plugged in the AC adapter that came with it, the low battery light began blinking on and off at 28 bpm, causing an audible thump from the speakers each time it went off.
The Headway people told me it must be defective and to mail the EDB-1 back to them, which I did. ($90) Headway engineer Gary Warmington examined it over several days and could find nothing wrong, but he sent me a new one anyway. Fortunately he sent me a new and different model AC adaptor with the replacement EDB-1, and fortunately I had kept the original AC adaptor.
Anyway, to shorten the story, the problem turned out to be the original AC adaptor, not the EDB-1 itself. When I AB the two adapters with my EDB-1, the old one always gives the problem; the new one always works fine. The old, bad adapter is a model BI07-180025-1. The new adapter that works fine is a model GFP051-2425BX.
Gary wrote that Headway had not had any previous problems with the BI07, but that they would be watching it carefully in future.
