Double Bass headway EDB 1 question

i have a situation at home where im going to be doing some recording. im using 2 inputs on my interface, and there is one switch for 48v phantom power that applies to both inputs. one of my inputs i do need the 48v because of a condenser mic. in the other input is plugged the headway (with the xlr) question is, is the 48v harming the headway? alternative question, what if dont use an xlr cable to plug the headway into the interface and use a quarter inch cable (they are combo jack inputs)? that should protect the headway from seeing the 48 volts, correct?

I’m fairly certain using that trs-xlr adapter in “DI mode” actually supplies phantom to power the headway, bypassing the battery drain.

thanks for the response. i am not using an adapter. just a regular xlr cable from my console to the output of the headway. with phantom power on, on the console, will this damage the headway?
and this is an EDB 1, i see no switch for di mode

The EDB 1 manual says:
Powering Constraints: It is not possible to power the EDB-1 via Phantom Power from a
mixing desk, via its XLR Balanced Output, because the number of features incorporated, require
a far greater amount of power, than phantom power systems are able to supply.

Thank you, yes I understand that but would plugging it into a cable that has phantom power active on it damage it in any way is the question. I am not able to turn off power on my inputs

Hey, there are two ways to check this out: first way is asking headway in GB what about killing the unit with phantom power on it´s xlr out. Second is looking for a so called phantom blocker, f.e. like this one:

And, for sure you could use the headway´s jack out, but sometimes phantom power produces hum when using the jack of those combo inputs.

The phantom blocker is a lifetime investment! Maybe you´ll switch to a ribbon mic in 10 years, than you´ll be happy with it again.

I’m an idiot. Cabin fever is catching up with me. I was talking about the EDM-1, and was sure that was the unit you were referencing. I always get the two models mixed. My sincere apologies.
