Hell just froze over...chorus content

The used price on them (Analogman) can often be quite reasonable. New, definitely not, but then again I generally think that all new prices on things are unreasonable. :)
I used to too, until I bought a couple used items as is off Ebay that were broken or broke soon after I got them. Doesn't always happen that way but I appreciate the ability to return stuff that isn't working out or get it repaired or replaced if it breaks within the warranty period, so I buy new a little more than I used to. Won't pass up a deal, but I'm more selective about certain items.

Anyway, just ordered the BCD. I'm liking a couple of the others ones you guys pointed out, but the flanger and the relative low price compared to boutiques put the BCD over the top for me. Also decided to pop for a Carbon Copy delay, as I've never owned an analog delay before, only digital. Delay isn't a big item for me on bass, but it is on guitar, and there are some things I could do with a delay that wouldn't be over the top for my band. I think.

Wow, big couple of weeks for me spending money with MXR. But they're really cooking with the bass pedals these days, so hard for me not to.

i really need that ampeg di. we finally did a show with a pa system. we try my ampeg ba115hp line out, but it was too hot. i want to get the mxr bass chorus. i had the money once to pick it up, but i had other "bills" to pay. mxr should lower the price.

There are a few very different flavors of chorus out there.

The ones that appeal to me most are:
- Dimension D, and the clones or inspired-by circuits that have come after it
- ElKorus and other organ-style triple choruses like the Solina

Stereo is a plus.

If you're really set on getting a 1590a pedal, you might look at the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Very versatile, decent sound.

I picked up one used on ebay and it's been on my board ever since. Completely worth the space it takes. I got it for the chorus and flanger effects but oddly enough I've ended up mostly using it in tremolo mode.

Have you looked at the Neunaber Stereo Chroma Chorus? A bit pricey but I haven't been able to find a chorus I like better for tone or ease of use live. In addition, it's programable so you not only can change the parameters of the chorus, you can also convert it to a Stereo Wet Reverb.

I had the MXR for a bit. It sounded great, I had issues with it in the mix which led me to search. I eventually settled on the Orbital. That thing hasn't let me down. I wanted people to know I had a chorus on and I couldn't get that with the MXR. If I hadn't have gotten an Orbital I would've kept the Polytope I got or got a Tech 21 Boost chorus.

No one knows how or from whom, but every time a bassist decides he wants a chorus pedal, a crisp dollar bill appears under Jeff Berlin's pillow.

On the serious tip: Though it is too large a box for Jimmy's current requirement, I recommend the Diamond Pedals HCH1 Halo Chorus. What a beautiful, all-analog sound. And it lets you tune the delay time with an internal control; for bassists, that means choosing the degree to which low frequencies are smeared/noticeably effected.

I have used to have MXR Micro Chorus - and it was decent - not so good, but not bad. This time i have some pedals for chorus. Mainly there are two choruses: Tech21 Bass Boost Chorus (mainly on Infinite Flange preset, rarely - for Cure bass sound) and Tech21 Boost Chorus (still trying out). Also i have got Source Audio Orbital (envelope flange-chorusy - unavailable with anything other). And sometimes i use me EHX PitchFork for detune. About Orbital i can say - it is flexible but not as so intuitive as Tech21 BBC. It is better for me to use it for something out of range, unusual. All is in the good time.

I'd just keep using the detune function. I really like the detune on my BWhammy. Great chorus.

Otherwise just get another Boss if you loved what it was doing for you before. If I was to buy a straight chorus pedal again I would strongly consider the new Minifooger MF-Chorus. So far I have loved every mini I have tried so that would be my first place I would look.
