Thank you so much for existing and talking bass. I found this forum by searching the web for 'chordal notes'. I saw an interview with Carol Kaye, she referred to that. I'm an absolute beginner on bass guitar and I'm eager to learn and understand what a good groove is made of.
I play a Squier Precision bass. I'm lefthand, and there's not so much choice in lower price that I can afford. I tried a few other in some shops, but I felt comfortable with this instrument. I have it now since 6 months and I never regretted buying it. I changed the strings and use now D'Addario ECB81, these are flatwound strings and it feels and sounds much better to me.
I bought an used Roland DB 500 and I really enjoy this amp's sound and power.
I played guitar before, acoustic and later electric. But the bass player in my band (myspace.com/flying-cow) quitted and I always felt and heard and loved bass a lot, so I took his place. It's a great joy to play and learn and I can assure you: playing in a band teaches a lot about playing. I can just experiment and discover my bass with the drummer and the guitar player, but I also want to learn more theoretical background and the like. I think I'm here at the right place for that.
My real name is Andreas, I'm 49 years old. At the moment I have a lot time to play and study, since I lost my job. I think I will have great fun reading all the faqs and posts here.
Please excuse my poor English, it's not my native language, I'm German. I hope you can understand me. ;-)
edit: I love to listen to jazz bass very much, Bebop and the like. I also love the hear these Reggea-Riddims and I like e.g. Bill Laswells recordings and the like.
