Hello From Calgary

Hello TalkBass. Been lurking on the forum for a couple years. Played guitar in high school but have always had a “thing” for double basses. Anyway found one that I couldn’t say no to so now I’m the owner of a completely unknown double bass. Going to start with lessons right away. Soo excited to get started. Couple of starter questions. Anyone know a good instructor in Calgary? Preferably in the NW? Also any help in letting me know what I have would be fantastic. There is no label or markings anywhere on the bass. Had a good look inside and can only see lots of dust, some plant remains and possibly a dead mouse!!!

Have fun. I always wanted one, but, the ole hobby budget would not stretch far enough.

There was one that was kept out at the ole picking parlor. I gave it a go every once in a while. Found it being up right, and not horizontal, to be something I would have to get used to. Roots and fives just about did it for me.
