Hello from Los Angeles...

Hello,

Just got a handle on this site.

Hope I can add to this cool bass place.

A little about me.

Bass player for 25 years...

Former bass guy at GC Hollywood...

Former Customer Relations manager and Artist Relations director SWR Bass amps...

Many film, commercial and tv credits...loads...

Many, many gigs under my belt...

Have owned and played more basses than I can remember.

Have many friends and contacts in the biz...

Don't mean to toot my own whistle, just stating the facts:smug:

Keep it low and groovy!

Lon

Hi Jon,

Nice to meet you also!

My main bass...recording and live is a highly modified '72 p bass...

Stripped stained and oiled body, back of the neck is stripped and oiled...

Brass nut...

Badass...

Vintage Seymore Duncan 1/4 pounder.

I am currently trying to duplicate this sweet, huge sounding tone machine.

Just bought a nitro Warmoth ash p j body to pair with another '73 p maple neck I have stashed.

Keeping my fingers crossed, but not getting my hopes too high, as I have been on this quest for over a decade.:hmm:

The duncan pickups are awesome! You should try a badass if you already don't have it...the added mass really helps bring the bodies tone into your sound.

Take care,

Lon

hi lads

just joined this site tonight.

i am a bass player with about 6mths experience, guitar player with 8yrs experience. am starting a band with some mates and need some advice. what are some good songs to play for a beginner? our current set list (6 songs ha ha) includes the doors, the offspring, rem, eric clapton, wilson pickett and powderfinger.

any ideas would be great! preferably the easier bass lines the better until im more confident.

Hi Lon,

Those basses of yours sound like they should sound great!

Am thinking of putting a Badass 3 on my P bass as it happens.
I can't decide between the chrome, nickel or black to go on my sunburst P bass,
what do you think? I'm thinking black at the moment.

Jon.

Have not been in a cover band for years...so my selection may be old...:D

Crazy Train- Ozzie
Living after midnight- Judas Priest
Aint Talkin' bout love- Halen
Seperate Ways- Journey
Smoke on the Water- Deep Purple
Comfortably Numb- Pink Floyd
Sin City- AC/DC
How Many More Times- Zeppelin
Working Man- Rush
Wasted- Def Leppard

All pretty simple, except for the Working Man solos...LOL

Good Luck

Stick with what matches your knobs and tuners...

Black looks great on red, black, white...not so sure about burst.

I am a chrome guy myself...looks great polished and ages with a nice vintage look about it.
