I've played bass since 94-95, started with a dirt-cheap used Yamaha BB bass, then decided to upgrade to a (very nice) Tune 4str Bass Maniac in 96.
I've just bought a Warwick doublebuck $$ 5str, and am very happy with my purchase.
I am upgrading my recording setup from a bass pod to a Ampeg SVT 3, so I am sure to start a new thread for much needed
