I have a couple things I need help with. First off, I am in Panama with my wife, we planned to retire here ( we are already approved for pensionado status), but now we are caught in the pandemic vortex, like everyone. First I'd like to ship my upright down here, if anyone knows a good way to do that, by sea would be fine. Second, does anyone know if there are any luthiers in Panama, or Costa Rica? Not that many double bassists in Centro America. Thanks

KC Strings has some crates that were built for visiting orchestras to haul their basses around the country, Anton probably will sell one of them so a 1 way trip might be better than round trip freight.

Long-time Wayne Shorter sidekick pianist/composer Danilo Perez is from Panama. Although I don't believe he lives there he sustains a foundation there that produces an annual jazz festival that supports his charitable foundation. I believe it's an epicenter of jazz in Panama. I'll bet the right person in that organization would know who the best bass luthiers in Panama are. See if you can make contact with them.

Yes I have heard about the Panama Jazz Festival. It is in December or January down in Panama City, about 7 hours from me. My bass and bass guitars and guitars are still in The Bronx, who knows when I'll be able to move them. That is a splendid suggestion to ask around at the festival. Thanks
