Just thought I'd introduce myself. I was a very active bassist back in the 70s and 80s, then university and an engineering career took over and the basses sat. Now that I'm nearing retirement, they are back out again and I'm really enjoying playing. Not sure if I will ever be in a session or a gigging situation, but who knows.
I have a 4-string Music Man Stingray with a Kahler whammy bar bridge that I just love to play, a Pedulla Buzz 4-string and a rare bird - a Hamer 5-string Cruise Bass from the mid 80s. I bought the Hamer just before going into grad school so I didn't get much time to get used to it - the strings are only about 1/2" apart so it's definitely an adjustment to play it. All three basses need work.
I have an Acoustic 370 head with a Fender Dual Showman cab with a pair of JBL 15" bass speakers in it. Weighs a ton. I also have a homemade cabinet with a single 15" guitar speaker that I use for low volume work. Finally I have a Bass Rockman that I use at home. One curious little item - I put an old Bartolini EZQ into a a project box so I could use it with all my basses.
My handle "Justshootit" was derived from my avocation as a photographer. So many of my friends in the business like to set everything up and make sure all is perfect before tripping the shutter. I used to shoot a lot of events (conferences, parties, construction sites, etc.) where there is zero time to do that, and when shooting events with my ultra careful friends I find myself wanting to tell them to put the camera in auto, look for the moment you want to capture and "Just shoot it!!!"
