Thanks for letting me join The Forum. My name is Mark, and I have been playing for 51 years, but got serious when I retired two years ago, learning notation and doing lots of practice. I played 12 years in "The Iconics", a '60s cover band with four vocalists so we could do Girl Groups (Shirrelles, Ronettes, Chiffons, etc.), and lots of British Invasion, Beach Boys, and American stuff. We also did a few '50s numbers. I left the band when we moved from California, but The Iconics are still going strong for which I am happy.
I moved to Oregon in 2021 and joined a band, "Encore Five", playing rock, blues, country, jazz; something for everyone. I also play in church twice a month, sharing bass duties with a former member of The Kingston Trio.
My basses are a 2009 Music Man Ball Family Reserve, 1982 Fender Precision Elite, and a Music Man Sub Series modified with Aguilar pickup and preamp. Amps include GK 2x12 stand alone, 1967 Fender Bassman with 1 x 15 JBL bass speaker, Quilter 800-watt bass head with GK 2 x 10 cabinet.
