Hello, fellow bass players.

I'm Jacob. I've been playing electric guitar for a few years, and picked up my first bass, a Fender Precision month or two before the pandemic hit. I've had a lot of time to fool around with it and figured that I enjoy it more than the guitar. Something about playing it with my fingers, about the deep tone it produces and the fundamental role of the bass just clicked for me.

Since then I've started taking lessons and joined a classic heavy metal band. Love it!

Welcome. Your rhythm guitar days will fold right into your bass playing. Instead of strumming play the active chord's notes one note at a time.

Roots to the beat work. When that flows add a 5, we will worry with the other intervals as needed.

C = R-3-5
Cm = R-b3-5-b7
C7 = R-3-5-b7
Cm7b5= R-b3-b5-b7
Helps to get these patterns into muscle memory so when you see a chord your fingers know what to do with that information.

You're right on point. Some mechanics are different, but lots of ideas and theory just carry over. Thanks for the tips!
