Hello

I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I am new to bass I have been playing for 7 months now. I am in a band and had no prior experience....kinda strang I have picked it up pretty quick playing with other people. I am not saying that I am ready for a world tour I have some basics and can keep the rhythm. I play a Yamaha RBX170 pretty nice for my first bass I am currently looking at buying a Copley 5-string. The only problem is I have no idea what the heck I need the 5th string for but I am sure I will find out. The band I am in play along the lines of John Prine style most all we do is original songs we do a few covers. I actually had my first gig in May.....which totally freaked me out I thought it was way to early for that but I lived and had compliments about my playing so no blood no foul. I hope that wasn't too long winded if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Welcome! I've just signed up for an account, but have been lurking the forums for years. This forum is full of scattered bass knowledge gold! Keep an eye out for the arguments. Most of the ones that make the cut of the mods (meaning they contain solid content, and not just childish personal insults) are full of years of experience, and can really give a lot of perspective. There is no one right way to play the bass, and when you get a couple of pros set in their ways arguing over something you can learn a lot by listening to both sides. Hope you enjoy your time on TB. Keep on jammin'..
