When I play the G string open, I get a terrible buzzing noise. But, all the other strings sound just fine open, and I know the problem isn't coming from the bridge. Can anyone help?

Check the angle across the nut of the string going back to the post. Try it while gently pressing down on the string BEHIND the nut.
No idea, but if I play the first fret on G, it's fine.
Yup, I'm almost 100% certain you just don't have enough break-angle across the nut on your G-string.
How is the string wound around the post? Is it going up or going down? Can you take a pic?
As mentioned above, the string is probably touching the headstock side of the nut instead of the fretboard side of the nut. That causes the string to buzz against the botton of the string groove in the nut. Time to break out a needle file 
Mine did the same thing and the stock nut broke in half at a practice I replaced it and its better but still there is some buzz mine is on the open G. I used a Fender stock nut i had and fit it to work and its ok . I need to take mine to the shop. To tell you the truth this bass has been a bit of a disapointment since i bought it.

I can't take a pic, i'm in school right now and have no access to my bass and I'm not sure if it's up or down. Even so, do you know what I could do about it?

What do you mean break out a needle file? Or are you just kidding?
That can cause more than one problem.
In all seriousness, It could be just that the slot in the nut is a hair to wide. I had that happen on a P bass I used to have. The open string would rattle in the slot.

Since it appears the string is not rattling against the frets (APPEARS), I have 3 questions:
When did you get the bass? When did the problem start? Did you change the strings?

I bought it from Musiciansfriend.com back in September, it started when I pulled it out of the box, and I've peplaced the strings twice since recieving it.
It's coming from the headstock, it's either the nut or the first fret that's causing the problem.

I was kind of close to getting one, I thought one day I would have one. What has been dissapointing? I thought it would be cool for putting some flats on it.
