Help a pickup newb out?

Ok first of all, I know very little about pickups and I id try to search but couldn't make alot of sense out of it. What I want to do is put a new set of pickups in my ibby sr1300 and see what it sounds like. Its a 94 I think so it has the p/j set up instead of the soap bars, and I was wondering what would be a good p/j set to get for rock/metal. I am looking for a warm, fat, growly sounding pick up set. Also, what would installing these require?

I've had a couple of good experiences with DiMarzio gear - big and bold which might be just what you're hunting for. As for installation, mine required a trip to the shop - I'm a lot more mechanically inclined than electron hip. Anyway, the p'ups that DiMarzio turns out deliver some great bang for the buck.
