hmm..
does the A string have to be at level with the other strings? a lot of basses i saw in the local guitar store had higher A strings (this is on Fender headstocks)
anyway, i took my bass there, and the guy ended up setting up my bass..now the A string is a little bit lower, but still a bit higher..
but it now does not make the metallic noise. maybe a truss rod issue? he adjusted the truss and the bridge and everything seems fine now..
