I am looking to score this 83 squier jv but i am in doubt of the body. First red mark is the paint. AFAIK, they dont come in this color.may be repainted though. Second one is the lack of neck pocket marking.
I cannot go and check it out because of travel restrictions. I am about to trade it with a yamaha vx-1 flying v guitar plus cash on my side. Everything looks legit aside from the body

TIA

Not sure about the body, but it looks like a refin, changed or repainted nut, the strap button on the back of the headstock has been painted as has the neckplate. The pickguard looks a little bit pepperami, but they do vary so might be ok. Pickguard screws and of course knobs are changed.
Overall, it's been "customised" by someone with really poor taste. Most changes pretty easily reversible. No reason not to buy it if it's a great bass, most JVs are, but don't overpay.

Point well taken. Still, i think i need the bass more and a yamaha vx-1’s value compared to the JV series is lower, atleast in today’s market?
But got me having second thoughts now..
