Get an Ibanez SR 305. It's the best for under 400 hundred

Nice thing about the stingray is the PU is placed exactly in the right place to give a really versatile sound. You can pluck right over it to get a good aggressive sound with a heavy attack - the PU also serves as a poor-man's ramp which can give you more consistently in plucking.

I'm a G&L man so I'd be inclined to suggest the L1505 or L2500. Tho if you can believe it, the G&L has an even hotter sound than the SR which may not be to your liking.

But if your choice is the stingray I'd personally go with that. The SR and Sterling are superb basses, IMO.....

IMHO, Warwicks are nice basses and many people seem to like them a lot, but for me the feel of the EB necks are what keep me coming back to them. That and they seem to be much more consistent than the Warwicks. With regard to the OP's point about getting more tonal variety out of the Streamer, consider a HH or HS configuration from the SR5, or go the next step and try out a Bongo5, which has the 4 band eq.

I have a stingray 5 for about 10 years now and wouldnt change it for anything else - I never tried a warwick cause I'm lefty but for what I know unless the warwick is a real one handmade from the guy itself it's not worth it (wood quality) - the stingray is awesome I heard bongos are better but I dont like the look of it.
