I should have said "don't use a friggin dampit" then. People tend to overdo it with those things.
I think those things hurt more basses than they help.
IMO, a humidity gauge is alot more helpful, get one and then decide if you need to run a real humidifier.
In my climate, there's no need for one, especially for a plywood bass.
