Double Bass Help Finding Thomastic Strings in Canada

Hello,

I'm in Victoria, BC and am having no luck finding a string set - Thomastik Spirocore Weich Set, 3885,0W (3/4-size). I tried special ordering from the local L&M store but they screwed-up and brought in a set of Spirocore Mediums (mittel), 3885,0M. We tried the special order again and again they brought in the same set. Arughhh!

I found 2 US online stores that show the strings in stock but I would prefer to buy from a Canadian store or supplier (preferably in BC).

Hi Northman, I'm in Victoria also.

Through experience I've found that it's a lot easier, and a lot cheaper, just to order on line. I talked with the nice folks at L&M and they said that there was no way they could compete with the prices I had found on line.
There can be as much as $80 -$100 difference, depending on the kind of strings and unfortunately, the folks who work there don't know the slightest thing about Bass strings.

I'm surprised that they don't have Spiros in stock - they used to.

And if they have to order them its much quicker to get them on line.
The best prices I have found were at http://www.stringemporium.com/ and I had them in my hands in a few days.
From here the I have found that the best way to order the strings is to use the toll free numbers and place your order by phone. Shipping to Canada can be problematic and this just solves any problems before they arise. Make sure you query them regarding shipping rates.

If you still want to but locally, try Larsons Music, you want to talk to Travis downstairs

If you want to talk Bass sometime look me up.
Also, I can sometimes be found at Hermanns or the Bengal Room in the Empress on weekends for the rest of the month (except the 28th)

Those 3885.0W strings, along with the S42 Weich, S42 Mittel, Belcanto, Dominant, Velvet Anima and Garbo, D'Addario Zyex and Helicore, LaBella Supernil and the complete Innovation Strings line, are in stock in the downtown Vancouver Long & McQuade.

You can call the store and order directly or have your local store bring them in for you. If you need a SKU number, I can find it for you.
