Help fixing my pickups

I play a bass with A P/J setup. I had takien out the Split-coil to clean under it, as was in the process of screwing it back in, when I stripped the screw on the lower side of it. Now, the coil sticks up on that side (right under the g string) which hinders me from playing anything above say the 17th fret on that string. Normally, this would not be a problem, except that I play in a band that requires me to be up there a lot. ANy advice for how I can go about remedying this situation?

Did you strip the head of the screw?

What were you doing, cleaning under the pickup?

If you stripped the wood, stick a toothpick in the hole with a drop of wood glue (Elmer's or Titebond) on it, then re-insert the screw. The toothpick will fill the hole and give you a nice tight fit for the screw.

And BTW - you don't need to clean under pickups.

Glue and picks, its all we do lately right? I'd check under the bridge for leaves while I was at it.
