Help I need a new amp

well having searched for the last 6 years +, I just picked up my 3rd SWR Bass 750. I will be back on the road running my 750 at 2.6Ohms.. If I wind up loosing one of the two working amps I have, I will be looking towards picking up my runner up - TFB-800

Along the way, demo the GK 1001 RB II. GK power ratings are fairly conservative. GK's 700 at 4 will bury some other companies 800 at 4... If Duff, Charlie Haden and Flea can all get happy with that tone setup, that says something about the flexibility. I personally like my GK stuff a lot. It has also been very reliable and they are in broad distribution so easily acquired on the road of necessary. One of those might make a nice foil AND a nice backup for you. Nothing wrong with multiple flavors on your palette...

Thanks for the tip..
See that you picked up the SWR 750. Nice head.

One thing you might consider if you need more power than the 750: use the SWR 750 (or 350) effects send (pre amp out) to drive a Crest CA9, and don't use the SWR speaker outs, just the Crest. CA9 is 2 channels @ 900 watts per channel into 4 ohms, and 2 ohm capable on each side. Basically it is MORE than two SWR 750s. Wear ear plugs.

It will totally give you SWR 350 tone with five times the power.

I bought molded earplugs about 9 years ago. Used those foam things for about 7 years prior and I have my hearing checked every 2 years. Got that one down pretty good.
Never thought of slaving my 750.. That is a thought, however, that is one huge and very heavy amp..

Thunderfunks are FANTASTIC amps. No problem getting in touch with the builder himself. They're the best sounding and best EQ in a Solid State head. Much better overall quality and reliability than mass produced Ampeg, etc. Sorry Jimmy.
