Help Identify the Warehouse Bass Find

I lived in Japan in the early 60s. It looks like a GuyaTone to me. Teisco made a different looking body style. I had one like this.

Kingston? Coral? Crestwood? All from the same factory, right?

Most likely from the Kawai factory, which produced instruments under various brand names. Just my thought.

In 1976 I purchased new a El Degas Precision bass that was MIJ and the one pickup was exactly like the one in your Mystery Bass...

Heres what you have - Its a generic house brand Japanese bass. You'd see these in lower end mom and pops, Montgomery Ward, Sears, etc. You'll see these badged as Kingston, Kent, etc. BUT the bridge is a Fender Japan unit. The tuners, I cant tell from pics maybe Mustang units...

I'm unconvinced any of these ever had a Kent or Kingston badge, but they are well represented under any number of other badges. Those pickups are special. I've got a peace sign Electra long-necker Jazz with those pickups that I will not trade for ANY Fender-badged Jazz. I've got a Memphis P with that pickup, and I just bought a project Global Jazz for those pickups and a pair of the pickups themselves. Show those pickups some respect.

If I were to guess, that bridge is not original. Looks like a modern standard Fender copy bridge. If this is an older 1970's or late 60's bass, there would probably only be 2 adjusting screws not 4.. (In general)

+1 on the Memphis P. I had one for a while with that same pu. If the pu is working it's definitely got a usable sound. The current Cabranita's appear to be using a pu similar to the Memphis.

Reminds me of the Custom precision, due to the single coil shape in the second picture. Just turned one down because it was microphonic (and therefore, unusable for me : )

My buddy's Fiesta bass has a "modern" fender copy bridge. It's original to the bass and it's a 70's model.
