Help Identify this Mustang Bass

I saw this on the net. Not sure if it was an actual model or a modified Mustang.
Did Fender ever make the Mustang Bass with this pickup?

That's a Mustang from the Pawn Shop series from around 2013. Mexican series, pretty cool (and pretty sought after these days). They also had a Bass VI (with a Jazzmaster pickup in the bridge position) and a reverse Jaguar bass with 2 MM-style pickups.

Well same model anyway but the fretboard wood grain is different.

It also came in red with a white competition stripe, and sunburst. I wish I bought a white one like that back when they were about $500 new. Though reviews at the time universally said the pickup was lousy.

and someone to possibly give a better voice. At $1800 now, in a used market, it certainly
is out of my league - but I do like the vibe of it.

Pretty subjective statement. My MIM Steve Harris is worth way more than that…to me.

Does look really cool with that pickup. I guess you could get the pickup rewound by Lollar
and someone to possibly give a better voice. At $1800 now, in a used market, it certainly
is out of my league - but I do like the vibe of it.

I have one of these, they are ridiculously hot output wise and a little choked sounding since the humbucker is wired in series from the factory. I wired mine in parallel and it made a night and day difference now it sounds like a fat p bass with some grunt. I’m gonna eventually go back and put in a series/parallel switch. Some people have even went series/single coil/parallel which would be pretty cool as well

From the ancient texts of TB! This is what I followed, it’s describing doing the mod to a Squier Tele bass with the mudbucker in the neck position. All you have to do for the Mustang is take out the 3 screws on the control plate. It really is as easy as it is described. White to green and red to the back of the pot!

Fender Pawn Shop Mustang Bass Review

Can't remember what they went for new, but somehow 650 to 700 sticks in my head.
I was more interested in the Squier VM Mustang bass at the time.
