I love these “found in the trash” threads, even if I’m lost in a cloud of jeaulosy lol.
Looks like a custom made project that needs your love
Looks like an amateur/home luthier project, somewhat Alembic inspired, that got abandoned. Nice wood.I found this husk of a bass across the street today in a pile of trash and had to save it from being thrown into a landfill. I’m just not sure what I’m looking at here. My first thought is that maybe it’s an Ibanez, but since it doesn’t appear to have ever had strap buttons drilled and the holes for the tuners screws are only partway drilled, I’m starting to think it was a custom made project someone did? Does anyone recognize this? It’s got a pretty thick burled top and it’s a multiple piece neck-thru. I’m shocked someone would just dump this, but I’m happy to have found it. I’d like to get it completed and up and running.![]()

I almost always find junk in the trash too. today was just a very lucky dayTYes indeed on the jealousy. All I ever find in the trash is trash.

I also somehow lucked into playing a real ‘59 Burst today too (obviously not a bass). I’m pretty bewildered by what’s happened; things have been a little rough recently so this all feels a little like a reprieve; I’m very grateful.
As an addendum for those curious, the Burst sounded great and played well, but not really anything more than a well setup current day Les Paul sounds and plays like. Honestly, didn't really like the neck shape that much either, but it was an experience I never even thought I’d have so I’m very happy.
