Help identifying this Jazz Bass

Hello all,
Been lurking on here for a while and joined up so I could ask for some community help with this puzzle.

I have a friend who does clean out/demolitions and he sent me the photo below. He found this jazz bass and sent me the photo, I realize the photo is crap but it's all I have at the moment. (Yes, the bass is safe. They store the good stuff in a warehouse).

Is there any way to ID a rough year? My best guess is 70's but that is solely based on the case interior color. The knobs look to have been changed out or this is possibly just a franken-bass. Are there any exterior clues that would give us a year? Pick guard? Painted head stock? Ashtray shape?

Thanks in advance!

On the surface it looks a lot like my 1965 Fender Jazz Bass only in a different custom color, Candy Apple Red. The tuners look right; the placement of the finger rest looks right; the case looks like its aged the way a little-used 60 year old guitar case would age. But that's all I can tell from this photo. Here's my bass, which I've had since 1977, for a comparison.
