Help IDing strings?

Seeking the wisdom of TB…these originally came strung on my Euro when I first bought it and have since recycled onto my project PJ. They’ve got silks at both ends and appear to be stainless, very smooth to play and have a pretty evenly balanced response across the frequency spectrum to my ears.

Any advice would be great, as I’d love to get another set!

They look like an older version of Rotosound Swing Bass 66. I say "older version" because the latest ones come with color-coded ball ends.

From the pictures I'd say the old version of rotosound rs66 but you mentioned they're smooth and some would say the roto's are quite rough.

Would you say these are roundwounds or flatwounds? Could be older rotosoundd rs77?

Those reminds me of Infeld Superalloys. I had a set maybe 10 years ago. Really smooth sounding and pretty smooth for rounds. Balanced, dare I say polite tone.

You may be right... I never thought of them, but they do come with red silk at both ends and brass ball ends, don't they?

I am fairly certain the answer is yes. I also remember the windings were smooth and almos looked like they were compression wound.

TI Superalloys don't have silk at both ends. At least they don't on the two basses with Superalloys I'm looking at as we speak. Also, Superalloys aren't stainless steel. They're... well, Superalloy, LOL (which I believe is the same or similar to what other manufacturers refer to as Alloy 52).

Looks like Rotos to me. The color of the silk looks closer to Roto as well. Superalloys have a tiny hint of orange, although the color of silk often changes slightly over the years, both from exposure to light and changes made by the manufacturer.

The roughness of Rotos is highly exaggerated IMO and if they're old enough to have brass ball any perceived roughness may also have been worn down.
