Does anyone see the anomaly on the treble side of the first fret? Don't see anything on the back of the neck though...

$700 does not seem to be a spectacular price to me. I've seen late 90's P-Basses sit for weeks in music stores in my area for less money than that. Maybe I'm out of touch with the market, or maybe the 2000's are more desirable basses. I seriously doubt there is any scamming going on here though.

Personally like the late 90s before the change to the corona neck plate. But the change not drastic until the s1 button came out a few years later. Even then it is still a good bass.

The USA fenders I think to avoid are late 80s to early 90's. Back then the only difference between MIM and Mia was pickups and hardware, as the new MIM was touted to be as good as USA. It was the changes in 1995, with the graphite reinforced neck and string through bridge, that the MIA basses took a huge leap in quality

I sold my 2002 American Standard in '14 after gigging it for about 11 years for $850.00. It had all the tags, HS case, & all the stuff I kept when I bought it new.

And yes, that Precision looks like a USA model from about that time period.
