HELP! Latency issue - Focusrite Scarlett Solo and Audacity

Oh Gurus of Recorded Sounds...

I'm trying to record a bass track for a friend. I have opened his recording as a 2 channel file in Audacity. I have my Scarlett Solo hooked up.
But when I record, the part I play is several milliseconds delayed from the main track.
I've used this setup before (once) and it worked without this issue.
All tracks are set to a sample rate of 48000, 32 bit float.

What am I doing wrong, and how can I rightify it?

I have not had significant latency problems using a Solo with Audacity, but I have with other USB interfaces. I may still get some latency, but within tolerable levels.

How are you monitoring? Latency typically occurs due to sound going through the operating system's kernel. USB interfaces with monitoring features bypass that somewhat to reduce latency (no such thing as 0% latency IMO). Make sure you are monitoring playback through the Solo, and not the PC speakers/soundcard.

BTW, Audacity does not support ASIO by default. Apparently Audacity has some correction utilities built in for latency - do a google.

I just use the time tool in Audacity to nudge my track a bit to the left as I layer. I am a cave man
