Help looking inside my cab

So I'm still hearing this buzzing noise from my speaker cab (svt-15e). I replaced the Velcro fasteners and it didn't help. I think I'm gonna remove the speaker and see if maybe a wire is bumping the speaker? Do I just unscrew the screws of the speaker mount, and what should I look for if there could be a noticeable issue behind the speaker?

It almost certainly won't be a wire, but there's nothing wrong with looking.

If there are screws holding the cab back on, remove them and don't just yank it off, be gentle...there are wires connected to it.

If not, in most cases you would remove the grille, then remove the screws holding the speaker in.

BUT - why don't you STOP now, give us the brand and model # of the cab, and photos of the front and back?

Update: I took the grill off and it still made the buzzing/rattle noise, so I pressed down on certain areas around the speaker and found out it was coming from that Soft foamy material around the rim between the speaker and wood. So I just carefully and lightly pounded the edges of that soft foam stuff and voila, the noise stopped. But It doesn't really seem at all like a permanent fix so I'll just have to wait from this point and see if it starts making the noise again.

Try tightening the fasteners around the speaker that hold it in place. They should all have the same tightness (torque). Tighten them in a star pattern, starting with one then doing the opposite one. The way that a drum is tightened when you are tuning it.

The goal is to have even pressure around the edge of the speaker. The key is to not over tighten the fasteners. Tighten it finger tight and then half a turn or so. You want to just start compressing the gasket around the speaker. Too tight and you can warp the frame of the speaker which would be a bad thing.

Your speaker needs a shim. :hiding:
