Double Bass Help me choose a DB.

Given a choice between a Palatino, Billy and a Englehardt, Maestro ES1; what is a better instrument? Looking at life span, resale value, & durability? I'm looking for a good all-round bass.

I would ask for more choices.

Do a search for these basses in the forum, you will find out that neither is very well regarded.

Check out a Lemur laminated bass, or an Upton laminated bass, or a Shen laminated bass for better options at reasonable prices.

Try [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. Even more highly regarded and for a bunch o good reasons imo

Englehardt - hands down.

As others in this thread said, I would be thinking about an Upton Laminate over the Englehardt.

I've bought a laminated one from upton Bass at $1,800 and I really like the sound. Not expensive and worth every penny. I've installed a Realist pick-up and the K&K Golden Bullet microphone. The amplified sound is full and natural.
