Well i'm new here, but i've been playing for a few years and i'm about to buy a new bass.
I'm between a Fender precision Blacktop or the Roger waters precison bass, also by Fender.
Please help me to decide, also know i'm open to other options
    (Sorry for my english)

No need to be sorry. I wish I could speak and write another language.
What are you looking for in a Precision bass, the classic sound?
If so, I don't believe the Blacktop would be the right choice...nice bass but humbuckers instead of split coil pickup.
I've been wanting this one for quite some time.
    Thinner Jazz neck, P and J pickups...and it's active.
Fender Deluxe Active Precision bass...$699 or less. Quite a variety of tones with this one...one of the most versatile Fenders made. Of course, some people don't like active electronics...then again, these days some people don't like Fender.

I'm looking for a precision, i love how it kicks into the music i play, the jazz on the other hand, feels like it slides into it.
i'm looking for that kick, i want a powerfull sound that stands out when i'm playing, not necessarily a classic sound

Is a Precision/Jazz configuration a viable option? All the "thump" of a P, but a little extra "growl" slipped in by the extra J pickup.

I took another look at this post and thought I should mention the obvious; a Blacktop bass, whether a Precision or a Jazz, will not sound like the classic versions they're based upon. The bodies and necks are identical to their Fender Standard (MIM) counterparts, but the pickups are radically different. The irony is that the Blacktop Jazz is probably more capable of getting the classic Precision-sound when it's neck pickup is run solo.

Furthermore, let me stop the P-purists from jumping all over me by saying, "Yes, I know the neck pup is not in the classic sweet-spot." But when I first got mine and demo'd it for my guitar tech, he commented that it sounded like a P-bass when used as such.

So, octa, if you're looking to achieve the classic P-sound, along with the feel of one, the Blacktop series might not what you're looking for.

Well, i'm really intrested in the P-blacktop, it's pickups are just insane, and i know it's a powerfull bass. Also, i don't want a classic sound, i want to find my own. I've already found my style of music and how i like to play it, now i need a bass that goes with it. I read this bass is really good for hard rock/metal, so i think this may be the one for me
