I'm looking to get a short scale 5 to turn into a bass vi. Not into bass vi that are basically long guitars for djent (all the jazzmaster copies) and I'm not super into the src6 cuz the price and the string spacing being too tight. Hooky is out of my budget. And I want to stay above 30" so no MiKro. So I'm down to the Talman and the Mezzo. The neck dive isn't too concerning on the talman as i currently am maining a thunderbird. I just want a nice foundational bass tone and then to add higher register so I can do El Ten Eleven, Battles type stuff. Anyone here have or had both and can swing me either way? As of now I'm just going to buy the cheapest used one I can find first to mod it asap.

Help me decide between a TMB35 and SRMD205

I've seen the TMB35 converted into a VI. I think it would be easier to fit 6 tuners on the headstock than the SRMD. I want to convert one to an 8 string (octave course) eventually.
ECG has made a couple 32" scale VIs, but I don't think I'd enjoy it for chordal playing so I'd rule the SRMD out.
