chances are you are in australia...which means you will not be able to buy CRAP with 1200..espesh a ric.. i have one..and unfortunately bought it new here in aus for 2900. you yanks think im an idiot...and i realise that now..but..you arent getting any top end stuff down here for 1200..unless you buys online from the u.s.. which is a great choice...i am currently in LOVE with my ibanez sr506...killeerrrrr souuunndddd and my gosh she plays like a demon...you can pick up a new one in 4 and 5 string for about your price..even cheaper...i bought mine second hand in california on ebay for 400..absolute steal....

yeah If your in Australia, you don't have much to play with.

The Epi T-Bird and Les paul special are both much better basses, But I also don't mind the Embassy 5. The reason it feels lifeless, is the pups.

Also look at Schecter and Ibanez

That is an American made BC Rich Bernardo. It does come in a four string but good luck finding one. American made BC Rich anything is tough to find. If you are down under shipping would be expensive.

Ibanez basses are always good. Schecter basses are really nice too. Personally, I'd say Warwick but that's just me being biased. +1 to the Lakland basses as well.
