Help me decide ... I just scored this Univox coily, In remarkably good shape. It needs a few parts, note, no bridge pickup. Possibilites:

I have a set of typical Violin bass pickups. I could make a ring to fit and mount it with the stock pickup, or, make two rings and replace both.

I have a set of NOS guild Humbuckers with rings. faux Starfire II

I have a set of Kent Armstrong MM style pickups, and rings.

The last two options would require routing, Either option with the VB pickups, none.

Or I could just hold out until an original Univox pickup appears.

What say you ??

IMO, those '70s Matsumoku single coil bass pickups sound very cool. There are two or three cosmetic variations.

I'd leave it be, and keep an eye on ebay for a replacement, and use it as a one pickup bass until then. Those basses were made the same (with the only difference being color) and labeled with several brand names, so a keyword like "Univox" would restrict your search results.
