I don't listen to much newer music and need some help finding some cool songs to play with a new group. I'ver played a lot of 70's Classic Rock but not much of newer stuff. Thanks for your input!

Help me find some 'Modern Classic Rock' tunes

Like you I have been playing Classic rock for many years. One of my favorites from the 90's is "Blood and Roses" by the Smithereens.
Still old, but 10 to 20 years newer than the music you said you were playing. The song also has one of the coolest bass lines and is fun to play.

black country communion would be a great modern band with the awesome classic rock vibe if you can cover it

Sadly, there hasn't been anything that has come out in the last 20 years that I would even consider playing. Today's rock music seems to lack creativity and originality.
No such thing as "modern classic rock".
