Double Bass Help me identify some strings

I played a used Englehart that a guy had and it has a set of strings on it that looks to be either round or flat wound with a clear coating on them.

I could easily see the steel string underneath the coating, which was totally smooth.

The silk wrapping on the both ends was yellow in color.

The guy didn't know what they were because they came on the bass.

Any ideas?

Well, just to be first, I'll throw out...

sounds like some kind of Velvet. What was the tension like?

Yes, but I was FIRST. Accuracy is so over-rated.

No picture of the strings, I suppose?

I think these might be Eurosonic.
I imagine they were considered a light set, very interesting.
