Not D'Addario's , they have a red and a black.D’addario?
Fender = Gold-Red-Silver-Green (E-G).Fender as made by D'Addaraio?
I purchased some sets of strings from Mapes Strings a while back. They make piano strings and used to make guitar/bass strings. They are one of the few companies in the US making strings for other brands. I thought that they may be from Mapes. but they are currently out of production. Has anyone used their house brand strings, could they be from Mapes?Fender = Gold-Red-Silver-Green (E-G).
D'Addario = Purple-Gold-Red-Black-Green (B-G).
Gold-Purple-Blue-Green-Yellow (B-G) = ???
It's more than that. Mapes is THE raw wire supplier to essentially EVERYBODY in the string making world. I don't care who finishes the strings, they all get their raw wire from Mapes. The differences are in the details: core/wrap ratios, winding tension, etc. For example, that is why all plain round guitar strings all sound the same and have the same tension for the given diameter for guitars. The wire all comes from Mapes.I purchased some sets of strings from Mapes Strings a while back. They make piano strings and used to make guitar/bass strings. They make great piano wire and bass strings, I've been using them for decades. I had no idea they supplied wire to other makers. Good to know.It's more than that.
