I have been in the market for a p bass body that I can pair with a Fender neck I have lying around. I found this on Reverb the other day and jumped on it for $45 - the seller listed it as honey burst, but I think it could also be sienna burst or cherry burst. At any rate, it should be here Friday. Let’s assume that I can massage a Fender pickguard to fit, what color do you think would look good with it? I have parchment, tort, and black on hand…but I think gold anodized might look good too. The neck is a Fender MIM p neck with a rosewood board.

I said tort, but the pearloid might work too. Maaaaybe black too?..

I cant stand solid bright white, as I always think Low budget when I see it.. (and I have a squier burst w/ white pg, maybe that's why :roflmao: )

That "off white" /antique-y looking one as posted above might look good though..

Glad I could help.

IMO, it depends if your neck will be maple or rosewood. If it's rosewood, I'd probably go tort. If it's maple, gold anodized would look great.

I think that body is Sienna Burst Here's a pic of my Honeyburst P with both a gold anodized and a tort. I opted for the gold anodized because I thought it looked better with the maple board. And as you can see, it looks different in different lighting.

Aged white, or off-white pearl gets my vote.
I had a 83’ Siena sunburst Jazz Bass years ago that had a white one-piece pickguard/ control plate. I changed it out for a aged white pearl pg / chrome control plate and it looked awesome!

What color hardware will you be using? What color dots or blocks are on your neck? I like to coordinate the pickguard with the hardware and/or neck dots/blocks. I personally don’t care for a black pickguard with white dots and so forth. Then there are PGs that are neutral like tort (in most cases).

My point is consider what will be on the rest of the bass rather than just the body then decide what PG will compliment the whole package. Anyway, that’s my thought process for deciding on a PG color.
