help me please! it's about Bogart 5-string bass

Hi to all!
I'm new here and i'm sorry if i posted in the wrong section.

I've a little problem and wonder if somebody could help me...i've an offer to buy a five string Bogart bass guitar, but it only has Bogart logo on it, no other specification, model type..i looked through entire internet but could find any info about Bogart bass guitars...
Salesman told me it's from 1988...it has a wild look and a good sound...i just want to know its real price so the salesman won't fool me...
thank you

Well, you have to be a supporting member to post these kind of threads.

But at the risk of getting in trouble (as long as you promise not to do it again :)) I'll help you out.

The salesman is wrong. Bogart started making basses in Germany in 1991 until the late '90s. So it can't be a 1988 (unless it's a prototype!) They're pretty high quality instruments with graphite necks and a patented "Blackstone" body material (which is a wood core surrounded by epoxy foam.) They also have Bartolini pickups and Schaller tuners.

Depending on which model you have -- they had the Basic Classic, the Basic II the Custom Basic series, and the Collier Bogart, all in four, five and six string.

The Basic Series 5 went for about $3,000. The Basic II 5 for $1,700, the Custom Basic 5 $3,500 and the Collier 5 for $3,100.
