Ma-roo-seek? Anyways this is my new goal to save up for when I get back to work. I've got a couple weeks of therapy and a reason to work overtime when I get back. One of these two. It's nice to have goals eh?
I see: commercially speaking I would have shortened it to "Marus" or "Jupiter" or someting easier to handle! But that is the guy's name, so I understand...
The only downside to basses made overseas is the not being able to try before you buy but I've been wanting a headless bass (full body) for a while that doesn't run $4k plus.
I have no problem with any name as long as it plays/ sounds good. Look at Fender. If it were not well known............It could have been hood, bumper, drive shaft and on and on...........
I see, nevertheless it takes two seconds to memorize Fender, Gibson, Manne, Meridian, Laurus. Then later you can easily search on the web. Now try to memorize/spell that Marus....!!!! But again: I understand the pride for his own name...
Hey, where ever he's from (Poland?) I betcha they think some of our names are strange and hard to pronounce! Anyway, there's a Maryszczyk club thread, some of the current owners seem rather eager to chat about them (practically begging for questions), might want to ask there.
In some countries it's less hassle to go into business if you're using your own name, still though, I think I would have gone with the extra hassle.
I have a Navy shipmate, same name, he pronounces it "Maru-shack" My name is Dunbar but it is pronounced "Smith", just sayin'. Rondo
Sometimes you gotta be from (or at least have roots from) Eastern Europe to pronounce this stuff. I could change my user name to my full last name...but it's probably not the best idea. With that said I'm not positive that's how it's pronounced. Just a good guess
There is also a YouTube where you can listen to it (), and it's hysterical. I heard the routine on NPR when it was replayed on their farewell show and I nearly wet myself!
I ordered an Elwood 4a from him back in September without ever having played one. I went strictly by what I saw on his FB page and by the few reviews that are out there. I had it built to my specs. My choice of woods, color, finish, electrionics and hardware. I had him chamber the body. It weighs 7.8 lbs. I received it in December. It cost me less than a new Fender Am Std Jazz and it's FAR superior. Adrian was very easy to deal with. Did it all via email and wound up wiring a deposit and then final payment when it was finished. It's the best bass I've ever owned. It plays like butter and it sounds incredible. I would absolutely order from him again in the future. If you want it, get it. You won't be disappointed.
