Help me spend my hard earned money

So this arrived and we're getting aquainted, other than one little nick on the eye-gouger it's practically brand new. Two strings needed their intonation tweaked but other than that, all good. Not sure why this thing is/was so cheap. Idonesian factories are killing it. Feels like a good un'. Who wants to buy my Curtinsmith???

I need another bass like I need a hole in my head, but I'm going to have to get another L2500 Tribute. How much does yours weigh?

If you're ever interested in modifying the wiring let me know.

Honestly, the settings you've got are enough for most folks, but some of us like to get a little crazy with the soldering iron.

So you're aware - the switch farthest from the bridge is a neck/both/bridge pickup selector. The middle one is series/parallel for the pickups. The one closest to the bridge is passive/active/active with treble boost. A lot of folks play with the bass and treble controls in the center or maybe a little higher. Maxed out and both of these let in all these pickups dish out, which is too much for some. I always used flatwounds on these and cranked the pickups pretty far from the strings.

Totally read up on the controls before it got to me. What I meant was I was having a hard time hearing radical differences between settings beyond just the pickup selector. Then again, so far I've only ran it thru a DI/headphones and a Ampeg BT-15 into a Barefaced 1x12. The strings are pretty dead and need replacing. And I keep getting sidetracked with life horseshlt.

I'll try knocking down the bass/treble knobs like you mentioned too.

Well, after getting the L-2500, I barely had time to play it before I had to leave town unexpectedly. Thought about it quite a bit while I was gone, came back and put on new strings and tweaked the setup, and I'm not really jiving w/ it for some reason. I think I want something like a passive jazz V. I might return it to GC.

It's more of a general malaise I'm feeling lol....I look at the basses in the rack and I'm like 'why do I need X number of these things?' But specifically I am really just a guy who more and more, likes simple controls/passive basses. The Tribute blew me away on the build quality, it sounds fine but the preamp is just too much for my tastes, it played great......but man, that ~10.5 lb weight was the kicker.

Back to the drawing board for me....I really want to find a home for this Curtinsmith first.

I've always gravitated towards simple single pickup things. Too easy to get distracted with multiple knobs/controls/options and not focus on actually playing. I don't gig but I record a ton and I'm usually served well by a couple of keepers in the stable. The most complex bass is basically 2 pickup jazz control layout.

The Tribute went back to GC, if anyone is interested in it I can vouch for it being solid. Just beware of the weight. I've got a Fernandes Tremor (single MM pickup) headed my way now which kind of makes more sense. It's cheap, dumbed down and there are options if I feel like swapping the pickup or hardware out.
