Help me with my blues lyrics

Well,

I've got a bit of writer's block, so I figured I would try writing a song about my writers block...

its called "writer's block blues"

Well I'm sitting here writing,
it's another Friday night
Just can't think of anything to say tonight
might just give up, call it a day,


thats all i have so far.

I love that device of using "call it a day" to describe a night...but I think you need to find a way to make that clever turn of phrase more obvious.

...or perhaps even make that the whole point of the song: "This night is done, might as well call it a day." Make that yer lyrical hook.

For the next time, so you know, I have a thread to do just exactly this thing you ask. It is called "free custom lyrics" This will be a vacation compared to the sestina in iambic pentameter regarding mutated puppies from chernobyl I just did... Your meter is going to be 7-6-6-6 with lines 2 and 4 having a rhyming end word. Line three is actually two lines of three with rhyming end words. Just to fancy it up.

Well here I'm sitting writing,
at least that's what I say
Friday night brain cell fight
can't think of words to pray

to give up would be easy
I could call it a day.
but to fill my gut will
require a bit of pay

and so I take a pencil
but then I switch to pen
such a jerk doesn't work
I try and try again

when inspiration hits me
it strikes much like a snake
hard and fast it wont last
there isn't time to wait

a song is very sneaky
you wont see it approach
suddenly there it be
and you won't need to poach

there it is a song is born
isn't much to edit
born in pain sticky brain
pulls in all the credit
