My friend is looking to get a new head for his rig. He' looking at an EBS HD350 or an Aguilar AG500. I personally like the AG500, but lets see what you guys think.

On a serious note, what does your friend like more in an amp? From what I've read those are two very different sounding amps. How did he arrive at deciding between those two? I've played the Aguilar briefly and liked it... I would be inclined to choose the one that I was more familiar with, but I have no idea what your friend's tastes are like.

I think the Aguilar is a more versatile head.
Ive gigged a lot with both , and the aguilar is a lot more powerful. It has more warmth in the tone , but still can sound very transparent and clean.
The HD350 is a moore hitech sounding amp IMO , but it has a very boring sound , very steril and clean. It has a lot of functions ,and if your friend like thoose kind of stuff its great.
But the Ag500 is a pure frikken good amp , and the HD350 is alot "blaha blaha"

HAHA...trust me, this isn't for me. I got a DB680 with a GS410 and a GS212. I'm already an Aggie-head.
I'm not too sure if he even knows what he likes....
. He's played through the AG500 before at G-guitars, but has never even tried out a HD350. So, I'm not too sure how that amp got in to the runnings. He plays a bunch of stuff from rock to fusion. And he says he doesn't want a sound that's "too clean". With all that said, I told him he should go with the AG500, but he is still liking the HD350 for some reason. 
If there are any HD350 lovers out there, tell me what you think of your head, because I know nothing of them and have no experience with them.
I'm torn on this... I owned an AG500, but it never gave me that "thing" I was looking for. I thought there are a few choices in this price and power range to consider. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of aguilar gear. I have owned or own every piece of gear aguilar makes except the 750 (it's just a matter of time).
The AG doesn't quite have the tubiness of the other pieces and I personally wasn't that excited about the EQ. Great amp, just didn't work for me.
The other extreme is the EBS. My first concern with EBS is reliability. I haven't had good luck with EBS products and that would be my main concern with these pieces. Great sounding pieces and fit into alot of scenarios
If forced, I would pick the AG500. I think there are few items in that price range to consider.... Asdown and Eden come to mind as well as thunderfunk.
What cabs does your friend plan on using?

He's got some pretty low end ampeg cabs. I don't like them. I tried talking him into getting new cabs first, but he wants a new head first.
